  Rude, rude, rude! I found a cat at work and couldn't find it in my heart to leave it. I took it home with intent of taking it to a shelter the next day. Well the shelter right by work was closed on weekends and I live in Temple. The shelter in Temple was open 12-5, I thought great then I can take it there. The volunteer was rude, sighed and rolled eyes when said I was dropping off a stray. She said I'd have to have my license copied. Fine, no problem. Then she told me to wait for the "real customers to finish" ok, fine. When there was an opening the actual employees ask if I had a carrier for the animal. I said I had a box. She said bring it in. I did and she asked where I found it, and I told her. She began to berate me about not taking the cat to the one by work. Rolling eyes, huffing along with another volunteer adding in on the conversation. I told them I was sorry and they were closed on weekends and I have 2 dogs and a cat at home so I couldn't keep her. She said "fine, whatever, we'll take it." And grabbed it by the scruff. I told them I could give a donation so the cat can find a home but her just said "no, it's fine" and walked away. What horrible, horrible workers. This makes me sad to leave an animal in there care. Sitting in the Parking lot crying just thinking about it. You should be ashamed of yourselves!

  Found out that two puppies we adopted both had mange. One we returned was aggressive towards our 3 year old daughter and the other was very quite and would itch constantly. They did not specify when we bought them that whatever problems they had we would have to fix nor do they have a vet on site to specify what the condition the dogs are in when they are put out for adoption. There attitudes towards us when we returned them was very unprofessional and honestly pathetic. The way they treat dogs and let people guess after there adopted is wrong, if you have money and are willing to take a chance to adopt a problem then go ahead, but if your low on money and want a good dog like we thought we were getting, be cautious. With my wife expecting and with two toddlers who play with him, it's not worth the risk of them catching something or loseing a baby because they can't get a vet to check there animals before the're put out for adoption.

  We have been dog owners for decades, my family has also on occasion rescued a couple of dogs from dog shelters to give them a new lease on life with a living family. Our experience with TEMPLE ANIMAL SHELTER was absolutely HORRIBLE !!! We rescued an awesome female labrador/pit bull mix we were told she had a check up and was healthy - TOTAL LIE !!! She had the following illness; kennel cough (so severe that it infected our other dog), a yeast infection in her ear, and now we found out she has hook worms. We love our new addition to the family so we have paid out the vet bills ... TEMPLE ANIMAL SHELTER IS HORRIBLE - I WOULD STRONGLY RECOMMEND OTHER SHELTERS IN CENTRAL TEXAS!!!!
